Calligraphy
Ok so, fun fact Meghan Markle, the most beautiful woman in the entire world, and my all-out muse, worked for Paper Source back in the day. Paper Source is your one-stop-shop all things personalized. If your love language is giving gifts, Paper Source will provide you with goosebumps. They literally have everything you need and more. Like Hobby Lobby, but super focused in on wrapping paper, boxes, craft scissors, and the list goes on and on. There is this little section of the shop where private or small two-hour calligraphy lessons are held, that is what HRH The Duchess of Sussex used to be in charge of! Can you imagine taking a calligraphy class from the leader of the world? Well, I sure pretended to when I purchased a small beginner's modern calligraphy set from Anthropologie.
The process:
So the kit comes with everything you need. Steel pointed nib, guide sheets, practice sheets, and a bottle of ink and a few things to practice on like sticker labels and vellum sheets. The package also comes with a small booklet on how to sit and proper placement of the body. The kit comes with sheets to practice each letter; then you can eventually move on to small words and cursive connections. It takes a ton of focus, and the atmosphere is supposed to be very relaxed. As a perfectionist, I did not find it relaxing at all! I was so scared to make a mistake (hello, permanent ink) I hurt my shoulder. I was flexing muscles I did not even know I had.
Would I recommend:
Yes, I still recommend it. Pulled muscles + all. Wouldn't you love to try something Meghan Markle did for a living? At least once, I loved it, and I've already looked into private calligraphy lessons in my area. I am sure; I could be more relaxed with an instructor with me guiding me step-by-step. I highly recommend for ladies, especially women in ministry who make gift baskets or write thank you cards. It is so much more pleasant to receive a lovely legible note than to receive chicken scratch. As I motioned earlier, I purchased my Belle Calligraphy kit from Anthropologie, but they have been discontinued on their website. Amazon to the rescue... always.
