Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

Progresso, Yucatán

Progresso, Yucatán

So I was blessed with the opportunity to visit the city of Progresso. Progresso is located in the Yacatán, on the peninsula of Mexico. Now when I say blessed, I mean this was exactly my kind of adventure! It was fun, educational, tons of food, a cultural show and the perfect day ended with two hours of relaxing on the beach.

The food:

The best taco I have ever consumed in my entire life was in Progresso. Hands down, absolutely no competition. Outdoors in a Mayan hut from a stone fire pit. If I think about it for too long, I will start salivating like an old St. Bernard. Immediately after that dreamy taco, I had some homemade coconut ice cream. Once again, the grub is clearly better in the Yucatán; especially since I love me some coconut! It was the perfect cold, creamy treat because the weather was roughly 350° F. This great day ended with a picnic on the beach. Fajita nachos, fresh fruit, and cold drinks. It was so totally perfect I couldn't have asked for a better culinary experience!

I’ll never forget.

The atmosphere:

When I travel to new places, I want to be deeply submerged into the culture. I want to know how the people of the city operate, what they like to eat (we've already discussed how I'm extremely into that) what they like to do for fun, and any traditions or rituals. I'm looking for all that when I go to new places. I want to leave smarter and more cultured than when I arrived. So this atmosphere was terrific. We visited traditional churches, talked to the local people, and even saw a show with conventional attire + dance.

She has four full cups + a full bottle on her head. That would end in disaster for me.

What I learned:

There was so much I learned in the Yucatán. I learned coconut ice cream is the cure for everything there. Mainly, I learned how just to be content. The Yucatán taught me; it's ok not to have a plan for everything. Being happy no matter where you are or what stage of life you're in, that's the key. Find the beauty in every situation whether you're at the beach or in the ruins. Being content is ok especially when you're around your familia. My entire Yucatán experience is located on my Instagram profile's IGTV.
