Five Facial Oils For Your Skin Type

Five Facial Oils For Your Skin Type

It takes a small army of skincare products to keep the complexion looking refreshed, and blemish-free! Everybody is unique, and each skin type needs a little something different for nourishment. The first step in learning what is best for you is knowing your skin type. There are five major skin types:

  1. Normal: Some pores along the T-zone (horizontally across the forehead or undereye area and vertically down the nose). Rare breakouts, slight oily shine

  2. Oily: frequent breakouts, large pores, oily shine.

  3. Dry: Little to no pores or shine, flaky and tight skin

  4. Combination: Oily T-zone, dry elsewhere

  5. Sensitive: Skin reacts quickly to products/environment, red, bumpy, itchy

If your complexion is healthy or acne-prone, moisturize with one of these five oils:

  • Jojoba oil - jojoba oil components are the closest to the natural oils in our complexion

  • Sesame oil - great for acne scarring + irritated skin

  • Argon oil - regulates the skin's balance and promotes a smoother, calmer, complexion

  • Grapeseed oil - penetrates deep into the second layer of the skin without leaving you oily

  • Evening Primrose - cleanses and hydrates

Skin that is dry, combination, or mature should have vitamin-rich facial oils like:

  • Rosehip oil - reduces the appearance of dullness, leaving you with glowing, vibrant skin

  • Sunflower oil - moisturizes and prevents premature signs of aging

  • Apricot kernel oil - prevets acne, inflammation, and dryness

  • Vitamin E oil - moisturizing + antiaging

  • Sweet Almond oil - acne healing zinc and omega-3 fatty acids to prevent premature fine lines and wrinkles

Sensitive skin deserves a blend of rich and nutrient oils to penetrate deep into the second layer of your complexion without drying or irritating. Try a small amount of one of these oils before bedtime:

  • Marula oil - high in antioxidants, essential fatty and amino acids

  • Hemp oil - moisturizes without clogging pores, regulates + balances the natural complexion

  • Sunflower oil - moisturizes and prevents premature signs of aging

  • Grapeseed oil - penetrates deep into the second layer of the skin without leaving you oily

  • Argon oil - regulates the skin's balance and promotes a smoother, calmer, complexion
