An evening skincare routine should never feel like a chore! The time you designate toward loving the skin you are in should feel like a luxury and a reward. With all the hustle + bustle of life, the one constant stress reliever is taking the time to pamper yourself. Here are five tips to have the ultimate night in.


Set the mood

Evening skincare routines are a step toward healing the daily wear + tear on the skin and relaxing before bed. Nothing takes you away from reality like warm scents and dim flickering lights. Do not just stop there, turn up the tunes on a relaxing playlist, and indulge in the experience.

The proper fuzzies

A proper skincare routine is two-part. The beginning stages happen in the shower, and the second half happens outside of the shower area. So it is up to you to make sure when you step out of the shower, you slip into the fuzziest robe + slippers you own. No routine is complete unless you feel like the softest sheep in the land are engulfing you.

Focus on a new area of your body/complexion each day of the week.

Monday: hot oil hair mask

Tuesday: exfoliate

Wednesday: decolletage

This routine may seem overwhelming at first, but once you find a method that works for you, taking care of yourself in this manner will become second nature. Write it out and try to hold yourself accountable to this schedule every week for one month.

Drink up

Now that you have guzzled your gallons of water throughout the day, it is time to slow things down a bit with a relaxing evening treat. Snuggle up with your favorite book and a piping hot cup of chamomile tea (maybe some popcorn or cookies if we are really feeling crazy). Darling, you deserve it! Take half an hour to ease your mind and your body with some pre-slumber goodness. You will never regret a slow wind-down; it will promote a calm, leisurely morning.

Keep it positive!

Do not forget mental health! Reflect on some uplifting things that happened during the day. Study your best facial angles, audibly compliment yourself, and never forget to greet your reflection with a smile.
