Pumpkin Puree

Pumpkin is the fruit of the season. It is a great base ingredient for all of your holiday treats. The key to a great pumpkin pie or pumpkin bread is a simple puree. Try this the next time you want to make a sweet treat. 


Prep Time: 10 minutes 

Cook Time: 35 minutes 

Total Time: 45 minutes

Yields: 4 servings 

Ingredients: 

- One medium-sized pie or “sugar” pumpkin

- Salt

You will need: 

- Wax or parchment paper

- Food processor or blender

Directions: 

- Preheat oven to 400°

- Thoroughly clean the pumpkin skin

- Lay the pumpkin down horizontally + remove pumpkin stem

- Slice your pumpkin right down the middle

- Scoop out the seeds and place in a separate bowl (the seeds can be for roasting)

- Lightly salt both flesh halves of the pumpkin and place flesh side down on a wax-lined baking sheet

- Bake for 35-40 minutes or until tender

- Remove the skin from the flesh

- Scoop out the soft flesh and place into a food processor or blender

- Blend until the consistency is creamy
